If being considered a 'top' mortgage broker in Canada is all about volume and getting rich, then I am happy to be at the 'bottom'! My focus is, and always will be, squarely on what's best for my client, even if that means I'm not getting rich. There is so much more to being a good mortgage broker than 'total deals funded'.

I really do enjoy your newsletter and this web site but if I can say where you have fallen off the rails is this Top 50 Broker feature. As proven the data is not reliable, brokers were missed that submitted, a lot of brokers that did not submit for personal reasons that would have qualified, and then brokers that pooled their offices with their brokers to arrive at their "individual" results. At the end of the day it is a "promotional" piece at best. News reporting should be consistant with accurate and meaningful data. This article means nothing-not in the idea of it- but that it is frivilous and non accurate. Get rid of it!

Here here, have to agree, the current system is a bit of a farce, especially given the way some lenders force the signing of mortgages to one person. So of the "Top 50" who is really there? As well, who verifies these numbers, I can always say I did $58,459, 237.98 in mortgages, who proves I didn't. Probably why the real top agents aren't listed here, they are too busy writing mortgages. Dump it.

I don't believe the top has done this all my themselves -
This is a team effort and not indivdual - we need to recognize the right behaviour and this is not the right behaviour -
Individual work - is what counts - not one name - with the volume - I am totally against this structure that is used in Lenders - who recognizes the wrong behaviour........Its all about "How Happy are you in achieving your goals" - not who does the most.............

I know of several brokers producing over $50M (1 of them in the $250M range) that are not on this list.
